Mr. Joe Renardo has been teaching elementary general music for 13 years and has taught general music methods courses at the collegiate level. Mr. Renardo's teaching synthesizes some of the leading methodologies in music education, including Orff, Kodály, and Dalcroze (click the links to learn more). Additionally, Mr. Renardo advocates the use of technology in the general music classroom so students can further their understanding and creativity. A love and appreciation for music and music education is a byproduct of great teaching, and it is Mr. Renardo's philosophy that all students can and will reach their full musical potential when provided with the proper supports and a curriculum that is student-centered, draws on their interests, empowers lifelong learning, promotes equity and inclusion, provides meaningful and authentic music-making and music-learning experiences, and promotes music literacy.
Mr. Renardo is a graduate of Saint Xavier University (2010, Bachelor of Music in Music Education) and
The University of Florida (2017, Master of Music in Music Education).
Joe Renardo is also a performing singer/songwriter and has played many of Chicago's premiere venues, including The House of Blues (Chicago), The Metro, Schuba's, Lincoln Hall, and The Bottom Lounge.
